MEET THE BRIGHT-EYED TEAM

Hi there! My name is Jordan and I am the owner of Bright Eyed Canine LLC!

I am Certified Trainer & Counselor through the prestigious Academy for Dog Trainers. I bring extensive professional experience to the table, including (but not limited to):

  • 5+ years of experience working/volunteering in the Behavior Department of local humane societies

  • 10+ years of experience handling and training behaviorally challenging dogs

  • 6+ years of experience working with reactive dogs professionally.

I love working with all kinds of dogs, but I have a special place in my heart for dogs with big feelings (often described as “reactive”). I found my passion working with these kinds of dogs, and have owned reactive dogs myself (so I totally get what it’s like!).

My training and behavior modification methods are all rooted in science and are up to par with latest research and recommendations from leading organizations. They are effective, incremental, and fun!

I describe myself as a positive trainer—meaning I strive to keep my training fun for both ends of the leash. I do not use tools such as prong collars, choke chains, or shock devices in my work with animals. That being said- if you are currently using such devices I will not judge you! I will welcome you wholeheartedly, as I understand your struggles with your dog’s behavior and have used such tools in the past. I love showing people new ways of thinking about behavior and teaching kind yet effective training methods!

If you are curious about the reasons I use positive methods, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior has some great resources on the topic: https://avsab.org/resources/position-statements/

I live and breathe all things dog. Some of my personal dog-related experience and hobbies include:

  • Competing in dog agility

  • Practicing (and soon competing) in Rally Obedience

  • Trick training and fun (yet useful!) behaviors

Why does it matter that I am a Certified Trainer?

Dog training is an unregulated industry, meaning anyone can call themselves a dog trainer- no matter how competent they are.

It’s important to know that you’re trusting your dog with someone who is educated and ethical.

The Bright-Eyed Canine Sidekicks

Atlas, my male Belgian Sheepdog. He is my partner in crime, especially when working with reactive dogs! Atlas is a fantastic neutral dog who doesn’t care if other dogs react to him, so he makes a great training partner. He has his Novice Agility title and does everything with me!

Pyro, my male Belgian Malinois. He is my “project dog”—he himself is working on his reactivity to other dogs and certain people. He has come such a long way with his training, and he is sometimes a “stimulus dog” for more advanced clients!

Brita, Blitz, and BamBam are my old dogs who I adopted back when I worked at a local shelter! They are happily living out their retirement days with me at home. They still enjoy enrichment activities and training sessions that aren’t too physical!
